    Our client is retained by a very large datacenter operator who is engaged in the construction of a large facility in the US. 

    We are seeking experienced Mechanical Engineers who can provide engineering and technical support to plan, schedule, coordinate and execute full life cycle commissioning of critical facilities. 

    We are seeking an experienced Commissioning Engineer to:

    Provide engineering and technical support to plan, schedule, coordinate and execute full life cycle commissioning of critical facilities.

     

    He or she will be required to

    • Participate in the MEP design process;
    • Witnesses the static and dynamic testing of complex mechanical, electrical and control systems. 
    • Perform Test Procedures.
    • Prepare meeting minutes.
    • Interact with contractors, interpreting design and specifications. 
    • Conduct site observation surveys and prepares field reports on the status of projects and completion of projects with respect to compliance to the plans and specifications.
    • Prepare punch list reports and determines corrective measures for on-site problems.
    • Prepare general condition survey reports.
    • Familiarize oneself with codes, local project regulations, construction practices, and the latest equipment functional concepts.
    • Obey all the project safety requirements including specific on-site regulations.
    • Performs routine calculations.
    • Act as a project coordinator with other field engineers, coordinating printing, presentation and administration procedures.
    • Review shop drawings and submittals.

      • Assist in asset and consumable inventory management.
      • Responsible for the tracking and proper labelling of all equipment per established procedures.
      • Provide day-to-day exceptional customer service and support.
      • Incident escalation, response, and follow-up report writing.
      • Maintain and complete regular facility and security tours documenting and responding to found issues.
      • Provide applied mechanical and integrated control expertise for the entire data center.

      We’re Looking for Someone With

      • High school diploma or equivalent.
      • Minimum of 1-3 years experience in a data center or other related mission-critical operations role.
      • Experience working with various Microsoft Office applications and other database housing software.
      • Ability to handle a multitude of tasks and work well in stressful situations.
      • Strong understanding of the electrical and mechanical systems used in a data center environment.
      • These include, but are not limited to UPS, Transformers, PDU’s, RPP’s, Chillers, CRAH, CRAC, STS, ATS, and Pre-action systems.
      • Strong knowledge of NFPA70e, NFPA72, NFPA25, and compliance issues as well as building codes in regard to fire life safety.
      • Familiarity and experience in data center trending and analysis, with the ability to rapidly learn and use PC-based site monitoring systems.
      • United States Navy Nuclear Engineering – preferred.
      • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience – preferred.
      • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle, reach or feel objects, climb stairs, balance, stoop or kneel, talk, see at close range, and hear for extended periods of time.
      • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
      • Must be willing to work outside normal business hours, including weekends, late nights, holidays, and on-call support.
      • Must be comfortable working in a high stress, fast paced environment with shifting priorities.

      What the Job Involves

      • Lead and implement a standardised culture of always working safely across all STACK data centers.
      • Data center subject matter expert for electrical, mechanical, fire life safety, and other data center systems.
      • Advise the Senior Director, Critical Operations of the status of the site level preventative and corrective maintenance programs.
      • Operate, monitor, maintain, and respond to abnormal conditions within the facility.
      • Implementing site-level efficiency projects and maintaining overall site design PUE.
      • Ensure preventative and predictive maintenance program is executed.
      • Training and mentoring of junior staff.
      • Manage vendor relationships and service contracts.
      • Manage vendor procurement and billing process.
      • Site budgeting and forecasting for both CapEx and OpEx.
      • Create highly detailed technical procedures for maintenance events, emergency situations, standard site evolutions, etc.
      • Responsible for ensuring construction and commissioning activities do not impact existing critical operations.
      • Develop and maintain individual training plans for each employee in line with training and development program.
      • Be a customer liaison for all site-level inquiries.
      • Lead incident reporting and root cause analysis processes to deep dive into abnormal occurrences within the data center.

      • Minimum of 5-7 years’ experience in a data center or other related mission-critical operations role.
      • 3-5 years' experience in administering and managing facility preventative maintenance programs.
      • 3-5 years' experience in vendor and project management
      • Knowledge of data center (hyper-scale, enterprise, and colocation), and telecommunications industries.
      • Experience working with various Microsoft Office applications and other database housing software
