    The Client

    Datacenter People has been instructed by one of Asia's largest real estate groups, focusing on investment, development and management of real estate, to search for a General Manager to run their data center business in Japan.

    What The Job Involves

    The General Manager has operational and business development responsibility for growing and managing the Korea DC business. To provide leadership and management of the different functional teams in the data center to achieve the strategic and financial goals of the business. The individual will also develop strong relationships with top-tier global customers and generate meaningful sales opportunities.

    • Provide leadership to the local data center business with an emphasis on growth and successfully executing projects.
    • Responsible for managing the day-to-day business and operational matters which includes customer acquisition and partnership discussions etc. 
    • Identify and engage with top-tier customers and partners to grow the overall business.
    • Discover opportunities to serve customers’ and partners’ expansion plans across multiple markets.  Understanding their requirements and needs by offering suitable solutions to generate new business.
    • Acquire DC industry insights and identify key activities to keep abreast of the DC industry trends and recommend updates to business strategies.

    We Are Looking For Someone With

    • Degree in Engineering / Business Administration / Finance / Marketing.
    • At least 10 years of experience in managing a data center business.
    • More than 10 years of experience in a sales & business development related to the data center sector.
    • At least 5 years in a people management role.
    • A team player with good verbal and written communication skills.

      What the Job Involves

      • Contribute to datacenter systems architecture, as the first level of support (L1). 
      • Optimise bays for new servers.
      • Wire the incoming cables and network of servers within a bay, respecting the wiring scheme.
      • Install servers as required by the Team Leaders and in accordance with the operational plan. 
      • Assemble and install computer hardware (assemble/install/ upgrade/update computers).
      • Follow safety rules and regulatory requirements. 
      • Assemble industry equipment and water-piping equipment related to the operations of the server racks. 
      • Call in an L2 technician if needed.
      • Contribute to datacenter maintenance, as the first level of support (L1). 
      • Intervene on the servers in response to monitoring alerts or customer tickets. 
      • Upgrade the servers (change obsolete components) according to the list of work to be carried out. 
      • Undertake curative maintenance on delivered servers. 
      • Identify intervention stages using diagnostic information. 
      • Apply maintenance procedures. 
      • Update wiring systems. 
      • Restructure computer bays. 
      • Implement actions to resolve problems related to the server environment. 
      • Ensure computers are functioning properly via analysis and monitoring. 
      • Set up specifications and maintain databases (server, components and other). 
      • Manage and resolve system failures quickly and well.
      • Maintain and perform minor repair on industry equipment and water-piping equipment. related to the operations of the server racks. 
      • Call in an L2 technician and escalate incident tickets to L2 support if needed. 
      • Ensure material process flows are compiled according to set processes in place. 
      • Provide inventory support to manage stock levels to support the datacenter operations. 
      • Able to work in shift timings to support the data center operations. 
      • Coordinate activity with all 24/7 teams and help improve customer relations. 
      • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the department, meeting the requirements set out in the quality management system. 
      • Help maintain good customer relations and customer satisfaction on a daily basis. 
      • Ensure information is shared between maintenance agents and provide reports to the Team Leader. 
      • Respect the schedule and targets set by the Team Leader. 
      • Be customer centric and meet KPIs set to meet customer demand.
      • Highlight any potential delays early and identify mitigation plans with support of external teams working 24/7, in order to meet customer demand on time. 
      • Draft end of shift report and effectively communicate progress & delays to stakeholders on a daily basis. 

      We’re Looking for Someone With

      • Knowledge of physical data center infrastructure. 
      • Understanding of Company's products desirable but not essential. 
      • Ability to follow and document internal procedures. 
      • Advanced sense of service. 
      • Good communication skills within a team. 
      • Basic knowledge in Microsoft Office. 
      • Able to draft reports to communicate progress and highlight delays. 
      • Forklift driving experience would be desirable but not necessary. 
      • Organised, autonomous and adaptable.

      What the Job Involves…

      • Perform design reviews of systems.
      • Develop, oversee and write startup and commissioning policies and procedures.
      • QA/QC of the equipment installation.
      • Perform construction observations and develop functional test plans.
      • Execute tests for a wide variety of electrical and mechanical systems and to ensure testing is performed in conformance with standards and procedures.
      • Assist in training of plant operations and maintenance personnel.
      • Act as liaison with vendors and subcontractors regarding problem resolution and perform testing as required.
      • Review and analyse data and prepare technical reports.
      • Maintain effective communication with clients, contractors and other project team members.
      • Work with others to manage small to mid-size projects to meet client expectations for technical excellence, budget and schedule.

      We’re Looking for Someone Who…

      • 7 years' of industry experience in either electrical power distribution or mechanical systems or both. AA degree, military training or equivalent work experience.
      • Experience in diagnosing and solving construction and operational problems.
      • Be organised; possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
      • Experience with MS word and excel is a must.
      • Must have the ability to work in a high stress environment, ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
      • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work with and guide others.
      • Knowledge of building codes and construction industry standards.
      • Working knowledge of AutoCAD.
      • Must have or be able to obtain a passport
      • Must have demonstrated proficiency for all the responsibilities of a Commissioning Engineer.
      • 5 years' of experience in the commissioning field including performance contracting requirements.
      • Must be proficient in BCA, PECI and/or ASHRAE commissioning procedures. Hospital, biotech, data center, and energy analysis experience is preferred.
