    What The Job Involves

    • Provide engineering support for monitoring planned servicing and corrective maintenance on a range of critical data center infrastructure and associated equipment. 
    • Manage routine plant inspections, act as a first-line response and ensure that all work is done in line with relevant regulations and our own processes and procedures.
    • Conduct risk management and mitigation, vendor management and act to maximise uptime/SLA (Service Level Agreement) and improve PUE (Power Usage Effectiveness).   

    We're Looking For Someone With  

    • Excellent and effective communication skills, both oral and written.  
    • Good project management skills and the ability to learn spontaneously.  
    • Creative thinking and excellent problem-solving skills.
    • Capability to assemble the bigger picture based on various sources of information.  
    • Certificate as qualified Electrical Engineer (Bachelor / Master’s degree), preferably in a technical field.  
    • Strong technical background in electrical and good knowledge of cooling systems is pre-requisite.
    • 3 years’ work experience in a data center or similar environment.
    • Advanced and  specialised  technical knowledge would be an advantage.  
    • Fluency in English, both written and oral (minimum B2 level), and local language as a big advantage.

      Datacenter People is partnering with an investment and advisory practice specialising in Power, Energy and Digital Infrastructures across Europe, Africa, Asia Pacific and Central/South America.

      What The Job Involves 

      • Review and assessment of both DSO and TSO electricity grids across Europe to identify optimal connection opportunities (mostly demand focused).
      • Advise on appropriate grid connections based on end Client requirements.
      • Make grid applications and manage the grid connection process on behalf of clients from application stage through to energisation.
      • Advise on DSO and TSO tariff structures in European markets. Advise on electricity prices including negotiation of PPAs.
      • Production of RIBA Workstage 2 substation design packages which shall include integration with identified temporary power opportunities.
      • Technical and commercial input to development (Data Centre and Energy Centre) master planning, including generation, storage, and site wide energy distribution considerations.
      • Tender for delivery of substation infrastructures. Review and recommend preferred bidders to end Client based on technical and/or commercial tender return assessment.
      • Review of substation delivery partners designs in accordance with RIBA Workstage 2.
      • Complete power strategy reviews for clients depending on their DC requirements (based on country, voltage level, required dates, revenue mechanisms, end customer requirements).
      • Design reviews against Hyperscaler specifications and sustainability and ESG targets.
      • Client and workload management to anticipate bottlenecks and manage internal and external risks.  

      We’re Looking for Someone With

      • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent, from an accredited university or college.
      • Minimum 7 years of experience in Electrical design and/or construction required.
      • Knowledge of UK/EU substation design practices/principles.
      • Experience of running tenders for HV Substations including scoring and review of tender returns (Technical and Commercial).
      • Experience of management and technical review of HV delivery contractors during the design (RIBA stages 3/4) and delivery (RIBA stages 5/6/7) project phases.
      • Knowledge of HV Substation Testing and Commissioning.
      • Strong working knowledge of HV distribution systems and alternative power generation technologies.
      • Technical report writing.
      • Knowledge of Revit, AutoCAD, MS Office, BIM.
      • Awareness and Experience of Generation (engine and or turbine) selection and delivery Project Management.
      • Contracts management (FIDIC and NEC as a minimum).

      What The Job Involves 

      • To contribute to co-operative working across disciplines in accordance with the company’s procedures, and contribute to multi-disciplinary project teams, leading them when required.
      • To contribute to ensuring that effective internal/external working relationships are established and maintained with clients, sub-contractors and specialist suppliers. Ensuring that confidentiality is observed and maintained when dealing with private/confidential correspondence, reports, statements, records, other documents and information.
      • To ensure the effective use of company resources and sub-contract packages in accordance with individual project cost plans.
      • Prepare estimates for the implementation of mechanical services. Carry out site surveys to identify the clients needs and requirements making recommendations as necessary.
      • Produce and develop designs for mechanical services. Ensure that designs meet user requirements, cost limits and time scales. Contribute to the preparation of Health and Safety method statements and risk assessments in respect of construction work as required by the project to meet current legislation. Co-ordinate with clients, other professions and members of the projects and maintenance teams.
      • Produce tender enquiry documents in respect of contracts for the provision of mechanical services. Assist Quantity Surveyors in evaluating tender returns as may be required.
      • Monitor and comment on subcontractors work as may be required on individual projects.
      • Contribute to the engineering team by attending as and when required regular team meetings and courses to ensure that changes in legislation and company policies are fully complied with. Provide a professional and high quality service in accordance with the company’s quality assurance procedures and assist in the review of standards and procedures to ensure a continuing improvement in the service provided to the company’s clients.

      We’re Looking for Someone With

      • The post holder should have at least a HNC in Mechanical Engineering together with at least three years post-qualification experience, with sound organisational, communication, inter-personal and customer care skills.
      • Broad experience in the design, installation and management of building services. The post holder must have working knowledge of current legislation and practices in all elements associated with mechanical building services.
      • To be conversant with one or more of the following:
      • Computerised Building Management Systems.
      • Ventilation systems.
      • Air conditioning systems.
      • Domestic hot and cold water systems.
      • Health and safety legislation.
      • Design calculations software.
      • Ability to work to deadlines, under pressure and on own initiative.
      • The post holder should possess a current driving licence.
      • To be conversant with one or more of the following:
      • To be reasonably computer literate.
      • Computer Aided Design Techniques.
      • CIBSE Membership at any grade.
      • Evidence of continuing professional development and an ongoing commitment to undertake training and studies to meet the demands of both current and future legislation relating to the design of building services.
      • Experience of Quality systems to BS EN ISO 9001
      • Possess good written and oral communication skills, and the ability to communicate well at all levels and be able to control.
