    The Client

    Datacenter People is partnering with the UK’s leading digital edge infrastructure provider, specialising in cloud, colocation and connectivity services.

    What The Job Involves

    • Provide management support to all direct reports to ensure they are clear of what is expected of them, and that effective performance management is implemented throughout the team.
    • Provide guidance, support, training, and coaching to and put in place development plans to ensure that all employees in own team are focused on continuous improvement.
    • Lead all project works undertaken within region.
    • Operate as the point of contact for all major capital expenditure activities within region.
    • Work with managers in own region to ensure that you are aware of any ongoing maintenance or issues and provide support where needed. 
    • Carry out spot checks to ensure the correct documentation is in place for works on site.
    • Work with managers in own region to ensure all Planned Preventative Maintenance is carried out on time and within budget.
    • Own and drive improvements for revenue generation on sites.
    • Collaborate with the other regional counterparts to ensure that best practice is being adopted and that a common approach is in place.
    • Lead the drive to improve energy efficiency, process creation and improvement of best working practices alongside and in conjunction with the other Regional Head of Data Center Operations.

    We're Looking For Someone With

    • Minimum Degree level or equivalent in M&E engineering, IT, Computer Science, Management or similar discipline or proven equivalent working experience.
    • Full UK Driving License.
    • Extensive experience of leading data center critical facility services across multiple sites in the UK or abroad.
    • Experience of managing people at a senior level in a customer facing technical operations environment,ideally in the colocation industry.
    • Technical knowledge of datacentres and industry best practice.
    • Ownership of managing multi-million-pound Capex & Opex budgets effectively and maximizing value for spend.
    • Experience of working with a busy sales function to deliver client solutions.
    • An enthusiastic, driven, committed and flexible approach to work.
    • Be open to new ideas and have a positive outlook.
    • Demonstrate value of and delivery of high-quality customer care with their approach to communication.
    • Excellent standard of written and spoken English.
    • Must be a team player but also able to work on own initiative with minimum supervision.
    • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
    • Ability to work well to deadlines and under pressure.
    • Ability to think logically.

      What The Job Involves 

      • Perform and deliver patching and jumpering on infrastructure frames.

      We’re Looking for Someone With

      • Understand the basic elements of IT network architecture, including the range of cable types and networking equipment.
      • Understand the test parameters for copper and fibre cable certification in accordance with appropriate industry standards e.g., BSEN 50346 – Information Technology-Testing of Installed Cables, the routine for test equipment service and calibration.
      • Understand the types of health and safety risk that could be incurred whilst carrying out cabling connectivity tasks, who might be affected by the risk, and what actions can be taken to mitigate the risk.
      • Familiar with the concept of the ‘internet of things’ (IoT) and the effects of emerging technologies on media selection, installation practices and additional testing requirements.
      • Familiar with the structural components of equipment racks/cabinets and how to assemble them to meet the requirements of the infrastructure design.
      • Understand the need to maintain accurate documentation and the depth of information required for successful completion and handover to the Client. 
      • Good communication skills, both written and verbal, in order to communicate effectively with colleagues and key stakeholders in the customer’s organisation.
      • Good MS Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams etc.) and general IT skills.
      • Ability to follow clear directions and work in accordance with agreed processes.
      • Use literacy and numeracy skills to quantify requirements and timelines for tasks to be carried out.
      • Follow best technical practices to maintain quality standards whilst meeting agreed timescales.
      • Interpret detailed project plans to construct and fix network equipment cabinets, prepare cable pathways, and install cable support and containment systems.
      • Proficient in the use of testing equipment, including OTDR and Fluke DTX 5000.
      • Comply with Risk Assessment, Method Statement (RAMS) and on-site Health and Safety requirements.
      • Reduce the danger of working in confined spaces by implementing appropriate health and safety procedures, using and maintaining personal protective equipment.
      • First Aid (preferrable).
      • Minimum 5 A*-C GCSE's, including Maths and English.
      • At least 3 years relevant practical experience in a similar role.
      • Experience installing mainstream copper and fibre ICT cabling
      • systems.
      • General understanding and knowledge of Data Centre Services.
