    Our Client

    A Global Leading Data Center Colocation provider. 

    Position Summary

    • Provide oversight and review of project plans, equipment and system submittals
    • Coordinate heavily with internal engineering team across all disciplines to ensure products delivered to Operations is streamline and optimized to meet the needs of the business ocross all functions
    • Conduct value engineering analyses, and provide system recommendations
    • Attend project design team meetings and ensure product constructed meets engineering standards and specifications
    • Work closely with Operations to find a balance between cost-effective solutions & operational sustainability
    • Project coordination and commissioning support
    • Develop and/or set minimum requirements for complete sequence of operations for all designed systems
    • Help set standards for mechanical commissioning efforts and ensure compliance on each project

    The Experienced Profile

    • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent, from an accredited university or college
    •  Data Center  experience is required
    • Proficient in design tools such as AutoCAD, Excel, Word and Sigma6 modeling software
    • knowledge of critical cooling infrastructure
    • knowledge of building codes and ordinances
    • knowledge of air side and water side systems and components

      What the Job Involves

      • Create cost estimates, studies, analyses and evaluations at all levels of project development, with heavy focus on conceptual planning and pre-construction phases, this role will partner with the wider strategic, pre-construction and delivery and commissioning teams.
      • Provide various cost analysis, data gathering, and data analytics specific to the cost of work for construction.
      • Provide cost estimates for OpEx requirements and associated Lifecycle CapEx costs (replacement costs during lifetime, etc.). 
      • Analyse drawings, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare/review/comment on time, cost, and labour estimates for projects.
      • Review quantity take-off as a separate validation of contractor pricing.
      • Review contractor and subcontractor GMPs and change order estimates.
      • Provide costing information for customer requested changes on a timely basis (in tandem with GC during execution).
      • Provide the link between the delivery team and the wider GLP finance functions.
      • Review and implement lessons learned to ensure estimating data is accurate and competitive.
      • Review, evaluate and negotiate non-OFCI material quotes as needed.
      • Understand and handle competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
      • Develop and maintain relationships with subcontractors/partners.
      • Provide feedback to management team on partners’ commercial performance – cost consultants, GC, MEP, etc. 

      We’re Looking for Someone With

      • Proven record of leadership, strong verbal and written communications abilities, good interpersonal and organisational skills, computer proficiency, capacity to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, impeccable integrity and can-do attitude are all essential to success.
      • Proficient with Microsoft Office software & Microsoft Project version 2003 or higher 
      • A proven record of accomplishments entering new regions and, with the wider team, putting together construction projects from beginning to end ensuring the timelines are met. 
      • A thorough understanding of contracting strategies including but not limited to lump sum, cost plus, fee-based, T&M.
      • A thorough understanding of material take-off & cost estimating experience, and a working understanding of labour rates, general conditions, overhead, & profit.
      • Knowledge of AutoCad is a plus.
      • Knowledge of network & operating systems support a plus.
      • Strong customer service skills.
      • Ability to develop and document procedures.
      • Must be able to work with people at all levels internally and within the customer & vendor environments. 
      • Must be able to work in a team environment. 
      • Degree qualification in quantity surveying. 
      • 3 – 5 years' of experience working in mission critical data centre constructions, UPS system installations, generator installations and have overall critical facility knowledge.
      • Experience of project management.
      • Must be able to handle multiple construction projects simultaneously.
      • Must be willing to travel between 35-50% of the time as well as oversee multiple projects in multiple jurisdictions simultaneously.

      • Accountable for the development of cost savings solutions and early identification of project savings/underruns to ensure target values are maintained which providing predictable delivery of capacity to the business. 
      • Lead and mentor the construction team by providing guidance and support. 
      • Promote and model an attitude of continuous improvement, partnership, and teamwork in behaviours and communications.

      We’re Looking for Someone Who

      • 10+ years’ experience working construction project management, preferably in data centers.
      • Strong background in Project Management methodologies.
      • Experience in managing a construction project. 
      • Experience with the design and deployment of technical electrical and mechanical systems (electrical or mechanical background. 
      • Experience in Continuous Process Improvement and defining and managing associated metrics and KPIs. 
      • Experience in data centres or a similar mission critical environment is considered a significant advantage though not essential this will be a key consideration should multiple candidates be assessed for suitability. 
      • Experience of working in a European multi-cultural environment.
      • Highly proficient in spoken and written English (C1 or C2 level of CEFR).
      • Good German language skills (B2 level of CEFR).
