    Datacenter People is partnering with a global operator that provides data center campuses to hyperscalers, cloud service providers and large enterprises across North America, EMEA and Asia Pacific.

    What The Job Involves

    The Director will be responsible for managing various data center site selection activities in line with strategic goals. Key elements of the role will include site selection for specific regions or markets, identifying large industrial estates capable of supporting hyperscale data center campuses and interfacing with the Business Development team to acquire the sites. Identifying the markets to grow in the Middle East / Africa will underpin all aspects of the role.

    • Manage various aspects of site selection, land use approvals, negotiations with landowners, community outreach and entitlement process with local jurisdictions.
    • Assist Management Team with evaluation and selection of existing data center assets for the purpose of acquiring and developing into a data center property.
    • Organize our efforts and communicate Middle East / Africa activities to all relevant stakeholders
    • Coordinate local efforts with the various city planners, city councils, utilities and other relevant stakeholders that are critical to a project’s success in the various local markets.
    • Represent the company in the best light to local officials and effectively communicate the benefits of wholesale data center campuses.
    • Working with the Director, Public Policy, EMEA, secure any potential incentives available to the company.
    • Execute near term and multi-year strategic plans for the portfolio in conjunction with the company’s Corporate Development and New Development teams
    • At the appropriate time, transition projects to the New Development Team.

    We Are Looking For Someone With

    • In depth knowledge and experience in commercial real estate/property transaction
    • Bachelor of Science degree in commercial real estate, surveying or Business Management Degree is preferred.
    • Industrial land acquisition experience is preferred.
    • Excellent analytical skills with understanding of real estate finance and discounted cash flow analysis.
    • Ability to balance strategic thinking with tactical needs.
    • Excellent relationship building skills and stakeholder management
    • Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative manner.
    • Skilled at solving problems and dealing with a variety of options with limited information.
    • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills at all levels of the organization and with other stakeholders and third parties such as suppliers.
    • Flexible, adaptable and self-directed; able to work in a variety of circumstances; e.g. remotely, while travelling, across multiple time zones, cross functionally, by project, etc.
    • Must be able to demonstrate an excellent understanding of the commercial metrics which drive a successful development.
    • Willing to travel within Middle East/Africa.
